Legend

Legend

Galápagos Legend is a 92-meter expedition ship built for travelers who want real comfort without leaving the archipelago’s wildest corners out of reach. Every departure pairs full board and two guided excursions a day with certified naturalist guides, across four passenger decks built around the water rather than away from it.

Life Aboard

The Sky Deck is the ship’s social heart: a stargazing area, a dolphin-watching deck, a 24-hour coffee and tea station, and the Panorama Lounge Bar alongside a swimming pool and sun terrace. The Moon Deck holds the Al Fresco Restaurant for open-air dining. On the Earth Deck, a library, boutique, fitness center, jacuzzis and a small spa sit alongside the front desk and a dedicated corner for younger guests. The Sea Deck brings together the main restaurant, embarkation area, medical station, snorkeling equipment room and an auditorium for evening briefings.

Highlights

A rotation of four linked itineraries — North, West, East and South — lets Galápagos Legend cover more of the archipelago across an 8-day expedition than a single fixed route could, from the seabird cliffs of Genovesa to the volcanic shores of Fernandina and Isabela. Full board, two daily excursions and a dedicated naturalist guide team are included on every departure.

01

Day 1 — Baltra & Santa Cruz Islands

Arrival at Baltra Airport and a direct transfer onboard Galápagos Legend. In the afternoon, a dinghy ride into Black Turtle Cove, a mangrove-lined lagoon on Santa Cruz's north shore reachable only by sea, where green sea turtles and white-tipped reef sharks glide beneath the boat.

02

Day 2 — Genovesa Island

A dry landing at El Barranco leads up a steep stairway through a seabird colony dense with nesting Nazca and red-footed boobies, with fur seals resting near the shore. In the afternoon, a wet landing at Darwin Bay's coral beach, greeted by swallow-tailed gulls and more nesting frigatebirds.

03

Day 3 — South Plaza & Santa Fe Islands

South Plaza's carpet of red succulents and Opuntia cactus hosts sea lions, land iguanas and swallow-tailed gulls along dramatic cliffs. The afternoon continues at Santa Fe, where a turquoise bay offers snorkeling with sea lions and spotted eagle rays before a walk past giant Opuntia cacti in search of the Santa Fe land iguana.

04

Day 4 — Santa Cruz Island

A highland walk through the Santa Cruz tortoise reserve offers close encounters with giant tortoises roaming wild, followed by a visit to the Charles Darwin Research Station's breeding program. In the afternoon, Bachas Beach — named for wrecked WWII barges still visible in the sand — with a lagoon frequented by marine iguanas and occasional flamingos.

05

Day 5 — Santiago & Rabida Islands

Egas Port's black volcanic shoreline hosts a small colony of Galápagos fur seals at the end of the walk. The afternoon lands on Rabida's distinctive red-sand beach, home to sea lions and a forest of palo santo leading to a viewpoint over the bay.

06

Day 6 — Isabela Island

Urbina Bay's exposed coral terrain — uplifted from the seafloor in 1954 — is a chance to spot land iguanas and, in season, giant tortoises at the base of Alcedo Volcano. In the afternoon, Tagus Cove, a historic anchorage visited by Darwin himself in 1835, with a submerged wall to snorkel alongside penguins and flightless cormorants.

07

Day 7 — Isabela & Fernandina Islands

Punta Vicente Roca's towering eroded cliffs shelter resting seabirds and offer snorkeling with penguins and green sea turtles. The afternoon reaches Fernandina — the marine iguana capital of the islands — where a dry landing brings guests face to face with dense colonies of marine iguanas sharing the shoreline with penguins and flightless cormorants.

08

Day 8 — Santa Cruz & Baltra Islands

A final morning at the Pit Craters, geological collapse formations inside an endemic Scalesia forest, often good for spotting giant tortoises and vermilion flycatchers, before transferring to Baltra Airport for the return flight.

01

Day 1 — Baltra & North Seymour Islands

Arrival at Baltra Airport and transfer onboard. In the afternoon, North Seymour Island — a flat, uplifted island known for courting frigatebirds and blue-footed boobies, with sea lions and swallow-tailed gulls along the shore.

02

Day 2 — Bartolomé & Santiago Islands

A climb up Bartolomé's wooden staircase leads to the archipelago's most photographed view, overlooking Pinnacle Rock, with snorkeling below among Galápagos penguins and white-tipped reef sharks. In the afternoon, Sullivan Bay on Santiago, crossing a young pahoehoe lava field still rippled from a relatively recent flow.

03

Day 3 — San Cristóbal Island

Punta Pitt is the only site in the islands where all three booby species — blue-footed, Nazca and red-footed — nest side by side, with frigatebirds circling overhead. The afternoon continues at Cerro Brujo's dramatic cliffs and hidden lagoon, home to shorebirds and a resident sea lion colony.

04

Day 4 — San Cristóbal Island

A visit to the Cerro Colorado giant tortoise breeding center, working to restore the island's own threatened tortoise population, followed by the Interpretation Center and a hike to Frigatebird Hill for sweeping views over the bay.

05

Day 5 — Española Island

Gardner Bay's long white beach is home to a sea lion colony and the endemic Hood mockingbird, with easy snorkeling from shore. In the afternoon, Punta Suárez — the archipelago's oldest island — offers the rare chance to see waved albatrosses during their breeding season (April to December).

06

Day 6 — Floreana Island

Post Office Bay's famous barrel has served as an informal mail exchange since 1793. In the afternoon, Punta Cormorant and Devil's Crown: a flamingo lagoon followed by one of the archipelago's best snorkeling sites, with a nesting beach for green sea turtles.

07

Day 7 — Santa Cruz Island

Dragon Hill's circular trail passes marine iguanas camouflaged against the lava and a shallow lake frequented by flamingos. In the afternoon, tiny Mosquera Islet — a sea lion haul-out between the Seymour Islands, and a good snorkeling spot for rays and reef sharks.

08

Day 8 — Santa Cruz & Baltra Islands

A final highland walk in search of wild giant tortoises and the islands' land-bird diversity — finches, flycatchers and egrets — before transferring to Baltra Airport for the return flight.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is the Galápagos Legend?

Galápagos Legend is a 92-meter, 4-deck expedition ship offering 8-day journeys across the archipelago on a rotation of four linked itineraries — North, West, East and South. Every departure includes full board and two daily guided excursions with certified Naturalist Guides, aboard a ship built around a swimming pool, lounge bar, library, gym and spa.

What amenities does the Galápagos Legend have?

On board: a swimming pool and sun terrace, two jacuzzis, a small spa, a fitness center, a library, a boutique, a Panorama Lounge Bar, an auditorium for evening briefings, and a medical station. Snorkeling equipment is included; kayak rental, Wi-Fi data packages, wetsuit rental and spa treatments carry an additional charge.

Where does the Galápagos Legend depart from?

Depending on the itinerary, Galápagos Legend embarks and disembarks at either Baltra or San Cristóbal, both reached by a short flight from mainland Ecuador. Your transfer from the airport straight to the ship is arranged as part of the journey.

Is the Galápagos Legend worth it?

For travelers who want to cover more of the archipelago in a single trip, the appeal is straightforward: four linked itineraries mean an 8-day journey can combine the seabird cliffs of the north, the volcanic shorelines of the west, and the classic wildlife circuits of the east and south — all with full board, daily guided excursions, and the comfort of a pool, lounge and spa to return to between landings.
